OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Pro, a new subscription tier priced at $200 per month, offering access to advanced language models optimized for complex reasoning tasks. This plan, ten times more expensive than the consumer-focused ChatGPT Plus, caters to professionals who require high-grade AI for research and problem-solving. The subscription provides unlimited access to the 'o1' model, their flagship LLM for reasoning, as well as 'o1-mini,' a faster but less quality version, and the general-purpose GPT-4o.
The 'o1' model, initially released in preview in September, is now generally available with significant enhancements. It delivers faster and more accurate responses, with a 34% reduction in major errors for challenging real-world questions, and includes the capability to analyze uploaded images. A more powerful version, 'o1 pro mode,' is also offered to ChatGPT Pro subscribers, which requires more hardware and processing time but provides a notable increase in output quality. The o1 pro model significantly outperforms the base model in complex tasks, such as math and science questions, but provides less of a performance boost with programming questions.
